Projector throw distance

Throw ratio + image width → where the lens has to sit.

Find the throw ratio on the projector datasheet — a range like 1.2:1 – 1.8:1 for zoom lenses, or a single value for fixed lenses. Enter the image width (or a screen diagonal and aspect ratio) and we show the valid lens placement zone; or enter the available distance and get the throw ratio you need.

Throw ratio — max (tele)

lens must sit between

3.60 – 4.80m

for a 3.00 m image at throw 1.2:1 – 1.6:1

Measure from the front of the projector lens to the screen surface. Many projectors also have vertical lens shift — that doesn't change throw distance, just where the image lands.
